"The first time you pick it up and feel it yourself, you will understand why we're so excited about it." It has a 9.7 inch retina display and an A7 chip inside, with over a billion transistors. It offers a twofold increase in rendering, is twice as fast at opening files and has double the graphics performance of the iPad 4. The cost of the original iPad mini has been lowered to a starting price of  £249 for the 16GB version, with the cost  £349 for the WiFi cellular model. Funny Trick or Treat Sayings to Bring Giggles With the Chills

Funny Trick or Treat Sayings to Bring Giggles With the Chills The night of Halloween brings with it a lot of funny stories and anecdotes. The best part of the night is  sitting  together with friends  and sharing candies, and Halloween stories. Some memories fill the house with peals of laughter, while others remind you why Halloween is the  favorite holiday for kids. Kristen Bell I have friends who wear Star Wars costumes and act like the characters all day. I may not be that deep into it, but there’s something great about loving what you love and not caring if it’s unpopular. Bart Simpson Trick or Treat isnt just some phrase you chant mindlessly like The Lords Prayer. Its an oral contract. Rita Rudner Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents said, Never take candy from strangers. And then they dressed me up and said, Go beg for it. I didn’t know what to do! I’d knock on people’s doors and go, Trick or treat. No thank you. Douglas Coupland Who made the rule that everybody has to dress like sheep 364 days of the year? Think of all the people you’d meet if they were in costume every day. People would be so much easier to talk to – like talking to dogs. Dave Barry I preferred to trick-or-treat as a vampire, which I felt was much scarier. The problem was the plastic vampire teeth. I have a powerful gag reflex, so when people opened their doors, instead of being terrified by the awesome bone-chilling specter of the Prince of Darkness, theyd see this short,  caped  person, retching. Their only terror was that I might throw up on their shoes.   Poorly aligned eye holes are an ancient Halloween, tradition dating back to at least my childhood. My early Halloween memories consist of staggering around disguised as a ghost, unable to see anything but bed sheet, and consequently bonking into trees or falling into brooks. The highlight of my ghost career came in the 1954 Halloween parade when I marched directly into the butt of a horse. So when I open the door on Halloween, I am confronted by three or four imaginary heroes, such as G.I. Joe, Conan the Barbarian and Oliver North, who would look  very terrifying  except that they are three feet tall and facing in random directions. They stand there silently for several seconds before an adult voice hisses from the darkness behind them: Say ‘Trick or treat!’ Conan O’Brien This Halloween the most popular mask is the Arnold Schwarzenegger mask. And the best part? With a mouth full of candy you will sound just like him. Robert Brault I don’t know that there are real ghosts and goblins, But there are always more trick-or-treaters than neighborhood kids. Anonymous The older you get, the harder it is to find someone willing to share a horse costume with you. Emily Luchetti After eating chocolate you feel godlike, as though you can conquer enemies, lead armies, entice lovers. Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus You know, I’ve always wanted a child. And now I think I’ll have one... on toast! R. L. Stine When I was a kid my family was really poor and I remember one Halloween I wanted to dress up really scary and my parents came home with a duck costume. I wore that costume for years! I hated it. Jean Baudrillard There is nothing funny about Halloween. This sarcastic festival reflects, rather, an infernal demand for revenge by children on the adult world. Charlie Brown I got a rock. Michael Trevino I only eat candy on Halloween. No lie. Gavin DeGraw When I was a kid I got busted for throwing a rock through a car window and egging a house on Halloween. Derrick Rose On Halloween, dont you know back when you were little, your mom tells you dont eat any candy until she checks it? I used to be so tempted to eat my candy on the way to other peoples houses. That used to be such a tease. Jimmy Fallons Pros and Cons of Trick or Treating, The Tonight Show Pro: You get to go door to door, pretending something youre not. Con: Like Republicans on the campaign trail.Pro: As an alternative to candy, you can offer trick-or-treaters a heart-healthy apple. Con: When you close your door, they will offer your house some heart-healthy eggs.Pro: You bought tons of candy just in case you get lots of trick-or-treaters this year. Con: Riiiiight!!!Pro: Everyone loves your quirky and unique costume: Fat Iron Man. Con: You meant to go as Iron Man.Pro: Getting to say, Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat. If you dont, I dont care, Ill pull down your underwear. Con: Getting the response, Sounds good to me.Pro: With a Halloween costume, you can pretend to be someone you could never be in real life. Con: Rick Perry is going as President Rick Perry.Pro: Halloween is not just about the candy you get; its about knowing your neighbors and enjoying the festivities of the season. Con: Raisins?!?!? Aww, hell, no!

Organizational Culture Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 5

Organizational Culture - Essay Example Closely related to organizational culture in meaning is organizational values. Values refer to acceptable standards that govern individual employees’ behavior in an organization. Without these values, each employee would adopt behaviors that they deem fit in their own analysis which could conflict with the behaviors that an organization seeks to promote. The organizational values have to be in line with the mission and the vision. Woodside (2010) gives examples of the distinctive values in blue chip companies like Ford Motors and Marks & Spencers which were established by their founders and further sedimentation accomplished by their inheritors. Values would be chosen through the process of measuring, diagnosis, deciding and finally embedding. It has been noted that organizational culture guides the success of an organization, hence an important aspect to both the profit making and the non-profit making organizations. But success or performance remains a relative concept among business research scholars. Woodside (2010) gathers definitions of performance from various scholars ranging from an organization’s ability to achieve its goals to an organizational measure of efficiency, effectiveness and economy. In the same way, there exist various variables in measuring organization performance. This complexity has been cited by Shahzad, Luqman, Khan & Shabbir (2012) as the reason for minimal research on the impact of organizational culture on performance. In this paper, performance would be considered as the attainability of an organization’s goals. A positive correlation has been established between organizational culture and organizational performance with well performing firms possessing certain strong cultural traits. Shahzad, Luqman, Khan and Shabbir (2012) noted that superior and perfectly imitable organizational culture ensures attainment of sustainable competitive advantage.

Pasternak Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Pasternak - Essay Example In the writings of these two poets readers can see true reflection of the â€Å"shifting biographical, cultural, historical, and sociopolitical circumstances† (Hasty, 591) within which they developed their relationship. Ciepiela based his book on numerous authentic materials that have given the picture of how the two poets immensely influenced each other’s creativity along with the complexities in their relationship. Ciepiela has explored the way gender has been illustrated by the poets in their writing which provides a new perspective in the manner that the poets can be understood like their traditions and cultural backgrounds. One work of Boris Pasternak that was published in the year 1929 was The Tale. This prose is considered as one of the most complex short proses of Pasternak and hence has not been much studied by scholarly articles. While in the views of the scholar A. Livingstone the work is considered as â€Å"unfinished, untidy and confusing†, in the views of M. Aucouturier it is one of the most cleverly written works of Pasternak. However, the complicated structure of the prose is emphasized when it is studies in the backdrop of its literature and history. It was initially conceived under the title Revolution and the story was set in the period between pre-war summer of 1914 and before the beginning of 1917. The Tale is written in the style of â€Å"triple-frame narrative† in which there are two inner tales that act as counterpoint to the outer story. In the innermost tale, the story revolves around a young man who sacrifices all comforts of life as protest against all injustices in the world. Such careless sacrificial gesture of the protagonist â€Å"anticipates the compromised idealism of the coming era† (Swift, 114). In this way Pasternak has made the novel a reflection of the Russian revolution. One of the most popular works of Boris Pasternak outside Russia is Doctor Zhivago which was published in the

The Downfall of Tess in Thomas Hardys Tess of the DUrbervilles Essay

The Downfall of Tess in Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles Tess of the D'Urbervilles is considered to be a tragedy due to the catastrophic downfall of the protaganist Tess. From the early days in her life, her father John had begun to destroy her, which then led to Alex D'Urbervill and eventually finished with Angel Clare. Each dominant male figure in her life cocntributed to her tragic downfall which the reader encounters at the end of the novel. It is unfortunate how one woman can be ruined by the three most important and dominant people in her life. Tess's downfall began with her experiences with her father. She grew up with a father who drank excessively and did not give her any type of guidance or support. His characteristics are revealed when he sends Tess to Tantridge to dliver the beehives, due to the fact that he is too drunk to do it himself. Rather than taking responsibility for the dreadful accident Tess had with the family's horse, he sends her to the D'Urbervilles mansion to seek their name and fortune. Following this, when Tess delivers her baby upon returning from Tantridge, the reader once again sees John's true sides of how horrible he is and how he destroys his daughter, by not letting the parson come and baptize her child, Sorrow, yet he is on the verge of dying. Her son's name reflects just how miserable she is and how much pain she is going through, because of Alec. Throughout these incidents the reader can see just how Tess is selfless andl oyal to her family and is focused on helping them, so she goes and seeks help from her family members. The outcome of this is unfortunately useable, her downfall. Tess's journey to Tantridge and her introduction to Alex is the be... ...one she could trust and rely on, but this had not occurred. Even though it was not intentional, Angel himself had driven Tess into Alec's arms, when he had left her. She was forced to go back to him, because of poverty and because of her family. When Tess found out Angel had returned from Brazil, she found the the only way out of her recently started relationship with Alec was by murdering him. It is distressing how all three dominant male figures in her life had chosen to hurt her so immensely. Unfortunetly Tess is very influence by people, whihc leads her to face many horrible incidents throughout her life. She is selfless, loyal and weak which makes it easy for her father John, Alec and Angel to hurt her and cause her pain, which eventually caused her downfall. Therefore it is correct; the catastrophic downfall of Tess is due to the men in her life.

Not only children, but nowadays the girls or women also make Barbie as woman figure that they want. Because of the figure of Barbie and other figures of beauties, women are convinced to believe that one must look like these images to be beautiful. The easiest way to achieve this is by having plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is a type of surgery that can involve both women’s appearance and ability to function. Cannabis is becoming increasingly widespread and increasingly common in modern-day society for both recreational use and for medication. The two-sided debate between embracing medical use of the drug through the therapeutic benefits and the link between cannabis and psychosis is explored. This issues also stems the question of the legitimacy of legalisation and criminalisation of cannabis and how key concepts are raised including ‘moral entrepreneur’ and ‘social locus’. In today’s society as cannabis is becoming increasingly ‘normalised’, the theory that cannabis is a ‘gateway drug’ also arises. Despite the current marijuana laws, medical research has shown a variety of therapeutic benefits that arise from the use of cannabis. (Gowling et al. 1998, p. 446)) Revealed that ‘Over the years, cannabis has been claimed to increase appetite, relax the muscle, improve mood, relieve anxiety and combat pain and nausea’. As a result of these advantages, medical marijuana advocates support and has pushed for the legalisation of cannabis. However, it is argued that harmful effects can arise, demonstrating an association between cannabis with psychosis. Psychosis is a condition of the mind, involving a â€Å"loss of contact with reality†. Hall (1998) stipulated that ‘A high doses of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the
